I find myself always traveling either back to see my family during college or out of the country. Besides worrying about what outfits to bring I also have to worry about my hair. On this blog post, I will be informing you about what has helped me rock my curls when traveling.
Protective styles when traveling

When I am traveling either in a car or on the plane I prefer to wear my hair in twists. Sometimes I don’t like wearing my twists out so I grab my favorite Grace Eleyae Slap Cap. This satin lined cap provides my hair with protection while keeping me stylish. Any satin lined cap will do the trick. The key is to protect your hair.
When you are in the car your hair is constantly rubbing against the headrest. For a long trip, this causes breakage. Also, have you ever noticed your skin becomes dry when flying? That’s because the airplane air is harsh. This air not only drys your skin but your hair as well. Finding a protective style can help you tremendously when traveling.
Know what products to pack
Usually, when I travel I have my hair already in twists. Once I arrive at my destination I have to make sure to keep my hair moisturized. One of my favorite products to carry is an oil that I can use for my scalp and as a sealant. I also like to carry a very hydrating leave-in just in case I need to twist my hair for a long traveling visit. Also, I love to bring a 360 mist bottle just to be on the safe side. My favorite oils are the Camille Rose Naturals Nibs & Honey Ultimate Growth Serum and the Mielle Organics Mint Almond Oil. My go-to leave-ins for traveling are the Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love Moisture Milk and the Mane Choice Heavenly Halo Herbal Hair Tonic & Soy Milk Deep Hydration Softening Milk.
Plan your different hairstyles
Try not to manipulate your hair too much while traveling. I usually plan my hairstyles and pair hairstyles that are similar to each other. For example: on day 1-2 I would wear my hair down. On day 3-4 I would do a low bun. On day 5-6 I would do two pigtail puffs.
What to do after traveling

After coming from traveling my hair needs TLC. I love to treat my hair with an overnight mask like the Mane Choice Prickly Pear Paradise Apply to Dry Overnight Mask. I realize that overnight masks prepare my hair for the next day (wash day). I then usually follow with a deep conditioning routine. Deep conditioning helps my hair to bounce back after a long vacation. After that, I make sure to use one of my favorite hydrating leave-in conditioners. My all-time favorite is the As I Am Leave-in Conditioner.
