I had issues figuring out how to care for my edges. I had to learn how to care for them when I turned natural. One day while doing my hair I was thinking about why on earth do I apply edge control on my dry edges. I mean I always put moisture on my hair before I apply any styler to my hair. I came up with these steps to grow my edges while styling them.
Moisture

Your hair needs moisture before a styler why would your edges be any different. I usually add water with my 360 mist spray or a small amount Of the KinkyCurly Knot Today Leave-In Conditioner to my edges. This ensures that my hair will be moisturized and easier to manage when I add edge control. If you skip this step you’ll quickly realize that your edges will begin to break off. If you don’t believe me don’t add moisture to your edges next time. You’ll notice how your hair lacks flexibility. This is one of the reasons edges break off. Water or any leave-in will make your hair flexible and prevent breakage.
Seal your edges
When I’m doing my normal hair routine I add castor oil to my hair to seal in the moisture. For my edges, I use either castor oil or the Mielle Organics Mint Almond Oil. Both of these oils help grow and strengthen my edges while sealing in the moisture I’ve just added.
Edge control is the styler for your edges
Like any styler, edge control is optional. I usually do not “slay” my edges every day. However, when I want to slay my edges I usually grab the Curls Blueberry Curl Control Paste. The blueberry extract has been clinically proven to repair hair damage, prevent breakage, and encourage hair growth. It doesn’t have a stronghold but it does the job. I prefer to have a gel that isn’t harsh on my hair during my hair journey. These steps have helped me grow my edges out. I hope it helps you as well. Comment what edge controls you like to use!
